Amy Fraser Clinches Bronze at China’s Secret Garden in FIS Freeski Halfpipe World Cup Opener

Calgary, Alberta – December 10, 2023

The 2023/24 FIS Freeski Halfpipe World Cup season kicked off with a bang in China’s Secret Garden, witnessing an extraordinary display of skill and talent on Saturday. Among the standout performances, Canada’s Amy Fraser secured a well-deserved bronze, marking her second career podium.

Amy Fraser’s remarkable run, which earned her a score of 79.25, began with a daring switch 900 safety. She followed it up with a switch left 540 tail, a switch right 720 safety, and a left flair tail. Fraser concluded her run with an impressive finale, executing back-to-back 900s, first to the right and then to the left.

Coach Marc McDonnell had the following to say. It was great to see Amy start off the season with a podium. She had some outstanding highlights to her run including a switch corked 9 and back to back right and left 9’s. Her commitment to training and all-in approach to competition is paying off.

Amy gleaming with excitement “Really really happy to start off the season with a podium finish! I am excited to go into the rest of the season and keep on improving.”

The competition featured perfect conditions and a flawlessly cut halfpipe, setting the stage for a day of intense action. The women’s podium was dominated by Eileen Gu of China, who claimed the top spot, and Alex Ferreira of the United States, who secured victory on the men’s side.

Dillan Glennie of Canada narrowly missed the podium, finishing in 5th place with a score of 66.50.  Meanwhile, Andrew Longino represented Canada with a strong performance, securing 9th place with a score of 75.00 on the men’s side.
