Mikaël Kingsbury Claims 94th World Cup Victory in Waterville

Calgary, AB –Mikael Kingsbury continued his quest for 100 world cup wins with his 94th World Cup win, claiming the Dual Moguls title at Waterville Valley. It was his second win of the weekend on the challenging 245-meter course, which tested athletes both physical and technically. Kingsbury once again showcased his signature skill and determination to come out on top.

In Dual Moguls, two skiers compete head-to-head for 18 or more points out of 35 total, judged on speed, aerial maneuvers, and turns.

In the men’s big final, Kingsbury triumphed over long-time rival and fellow new father Matt Graham (AUS) with a score of 21–14. The two athletes share a unique bond, having started their World Cup careers simultaneously, making the showdown even more meaningful.

“Great weekend,” said Kingsbury after his second win at Waterville. “I’m very happy with my skiing. The visibility wasn’t great as we were skiing in the shade, but we pushed hard. It’s always great to compete against Matty—he’s a fantastic competitor and a great friend.”

Sweden’s Filip Gravenfors secured third place with a 22-13 victory over Japan’s Ikuma Horishima in the small final, rounding out a competive men’s field on the Lower Bobby’s Course.

In the women’s event, Maia Schwinghammer (CAN) delivered another impressive performance, narrowly missing the podium with a fourth-place finish after a close loss to Yuliya Galysheva (KAZ). Other Canadian women competing included Laurianne Desmarais-Gilbert (15th), Ashley Koehler (22nd), and Jessica Linton (27th). Perrine Laffont (FRA) beat Jaelin Kauf (USA) to claim her second win of the weekend.

On the men’s side, Canada saw solid results from Julien Viel (9th), Sam Cordell (11th), Gabriel Dufresne (18th), Elliot Vaillancourt (31st), and Sam Goodison (48th).

With momentum high, the Moguls World Cup circuit now heads next to Val St. Côme, Canada, where the athletes will compete in two events: Moguls January 31 and Dual Moguls on February 1. Fans eagerly await to see if Kingsbury can edge closer to the remarkable milestone of 100 World Cup victories.
