Mammoth, CA, February 1, 2020 – Canadian halfpipe skiers closed out a solid day of competition at the US Grand Prix in Mammoth, CA. Noah Bowman, the 27 year-old Calgary native, ended the day with a silver medal, narrowly edging out Lyman Currier (bronze, USA) and behind the American Aaron Blunck. Bowman was happy with his performance and is looking forward to the next World Cup: “Very stoked on the beautiful day we had in Mammoth. I landed one of my best runs yet but I know I have more to give for the coming events!”
The women were not to be outdone, and at the end of a very tight points race Cassie Sharpe, of Comox, BC stood on top of the podium along with her teammate Rachael Karker, of Erin, ON, who took 3rd. Russian skier Valeriya Demidova won the silver medal. Sharpe was all smiles after the event: “I went into this competition trying to have the mindset of fun, but knowing me and my competitive spirit I couldn’t just go for fun. As much as it was fun I also wanted to compete at my highest level. I’m really happy with the runs that I put down and the consistency of my riding, it was a beautiful day and everybody skied really well. I’m so happy to stand on the podium with my teammate!”
