Teal has been skiing since the young age of two. He then joined the Nancy Greene program when he turned five and skied on weekends until age nine which helped groom him into a well-rounded skier.
When Teal heard about the local freestyle club, there was a “Try Freestyle” day on the mogul course. This gave Teal the opportunity to try out a different aspect of skiing and instantly fell in love with freestyle. Shortly after, Teal joined the local club where he began his competitive journey. During his first competition ever, Teal ended up dead last and met a similar fate at multiple events after that. For Teal, it was never about the results, but instead having fun while pushing himself to progress.
Eventually, Teal improved significantly and started winning local BC events. He was then invited to join the BC park and pipe team in 2014/2015. Teal had a great season that year, standing on the podium a few times at larger events. By the winter of 2015/2016, Teal was skiing with the big dogs on the national team.
