Nicolas Fontaine joined the Canadian freestyle ski jumping team in 1991. At his first Olympic Games in Albertville, Nicolas won a silver medal in a demonstration discipline. Over the course of his athletic career, Nicolas took part in 4 Olympic Games and won 33 medals on the World Cup circuit, including 13 golds. He won 4 Crystal Globes, and in 1997, became World Jumping Champion in Nagano, Japan.

Nicolas began his new coaching career in 2005, with the aim of rebuilding the next generation of Aerial freestyle skiiers in Canada.
