Career Highlights:

JF Cusson, a pioneer in the freeskiing world, has a decorated competition history. He was a member the Canadian National Mogul Team for four years and finished second in France in his third career FIS World Cup. Cusson went on to earn a gold medal at the inaugural Winter X Games Big Air in 1999 and also won the first ever US open slopestyle competition.

Cusson then went on to become one of the founders of the freeskiing movement in the 1990s and was part of the original Salomon Teneighty Team with Mike Douglas that dominated many pro events during his competitive years.

Outside of competing, Cusson was a judge for the Dew Tour and the X Games for five years. In 2011, he was brought on to become the Canadian Slopestyle Team Technical Coach to work alongside Toben Sutherland.

Under Cusson and Sutherland’s tutelage, athletes Dara Howell and Kim Lamarre won gold and bronze, respectively, in women’s slopestyle during the inaugural event at the Sochi Olympic Winter Games in 2014.

Outside of skiing, Cuson received his PGA professional card in 2007 and won several pro tournaments in Quebec. He has also been a golf instructor for the past 15 years.
