Calgary, AB –Freestyle Canada’s Slopestyle team members delivered exciting performances on home soil for the first time since the 2020 Slopestyle World Cup in Calgary, thrilling Canadian fans over three days of intense competition at Stoneham Mountain Resort in Quebec.
Leading the charge was Quebec City native Olivia Asselin, who exited the qualification round in the top spot on the hill where she honed her skills as a young skier. Despite landing a solid second run in finals, she narrowly missed the podium, finishing 5th. Skye Clarke came close to joining the finals, finishing just outside qualification in 9th place. Current women’s slopestyle World Cup standings leader Megan Oldham placed 11th, followed closely by teammates Evelyn Mullie (12th) and Naomi Urness (13th).
The women’s event was won by Italy’s Flora Tabanelli, China’s Ruyi Yang secured silver, while American Rell Harwood took home bronze.
Three Canadian men qualified for the finals. Evan McEachran was Canada’s top finisher, placing 6th. He was joined in the finals by 17 year old Charlie Beatty, who made his World Cup finals debut in just his second World Cup start, with a 15th-place finish. Max Moffatt followed closely in 16th. Other Canadians included Tate Garrod who finished just outside the finals in 17th, Noah Porter MacLennan (20th), Alexander Henderson (21st), Jérémy Gagné (27th), Edouard Therriault (28th), and Bruce Oldham (37th).
Austria’s Matej Švancer claimed gold and was joined on the podium by New Zealand teammates Luca Harrington and Ben Barclay, who earned silver and bronze, respectively.
Stoneham proved to be a fantastic venue for the World Cup, offering an electric atmosphere and a rare chance for Canadian families to watch their athletes compete live instead of tuning in from afar. The accessibility of the event allowed many parents to see their kids in action firsthand, creating a special and emotional experience for both athletes and their supporters. Adding to the energy, the Red Bull DJ kept the crowd rocking with a fun and upbeat soundtrack, making for an unforgettable weekend of world-class skiing and hometown pride.
Freestyle Canadas Slopestyle team will conclude the 2025 world cup season March 11-14th in Tignes, France before competing in the World Championships in Engadin Switzerland March 19th – 22nd
