Calgary, AB – A week after hosting the 2025 Slopestyle World Cup, Stoneham Mountain Resort once again became the stage for competitive freestyle skiing as Freestyle Canada’s Slopestyle/Big Air NextGen team returned for the NorAm competition. Battling heavy snow conditions, Canada dominated the event, with NextGen athletes securing 7 of 12 podium spots, and provincial athletes securing an additional 4 podiums across the men’s and women’s Slopestyle and Big Air events.
Freestyle Canada’s female athletes swept both the Slopestyle and Big Air competitions despite the cancellation of qualification rounds. Evelyn Mullie delivered a stellar performance, taking home gold in both Slopestyle and Big Air. Mullie expressed her excitement, stating, “Really excited, and I’m really stoked. I can’t wait for the next competition. The course was really fun, and we had some tough conditions, but pulled through and learned how to grab my skis. So yeah, landed, and I’m very stoked.”
Avery Krumme from British Columbia finished with silver in both Slopestyle and Big Air. Alberta’s Sage Korth claimed bronze in Slopestyle, and Freestyle Canada’s Brynn Johnston took bronze in Big Air.
On the men’s side, Bruce Oldham secured his second NorAm gold of the season in Slopestyle, while Tate Garrod claimed gold in Big Air. Quebec’s Misha Litvinenko took silver in big air and Jérémy Gagné made a strong NorAm season debut, earning bronze in both Slopestyle and Big Air.
Tate Garrod shared his excitement after securing gold, saying, “I’m super stoked my dad was here to watch it. So that was absolutely amazing. I really appreciated him watching. To be honest, I didn’t have super big expectations going into this one, and I was really nervous the whole time, but I just kind of put down what I knew how to do, nice and clean, and the judges were down. So super grateful. Shout out all my sponsors, supporters, and friends. It was truly magical riding out of that second jump with everyone there. So just hyped and looking forward to the next.”
The Freestyle Canada NextGen team now sets its sights on their next competition at Winsport in Calgary, taking place from March 6-8, 2025.
