Lewis Irving isn’t the first member of his family to be a competitive skier. His father, Bobby, was formally a member of the Canadian Paralympic Ski Team. Lewis, who was formerly trained in both trampoline and alpine skiing, discovered aerial skiing at the Centre Acrobatique Yves Laroche in Lac-Beauport, QC.
It was at that centre where he could mix his past training in two sports to become a world-class aerialist while testing himself out on the water ramps. Even though Lewis first put a pair of skis on at 14, he had training at the circus school in Quebec to develop his air sense.
It has been quite the climb for Lewis since then. In 2015 he won the NorAm championship and was named the Freestyle Canada Rookie of the Year.
Lewis now has six World Cup podiums one Olympic Games under his belt with his eyes set on Beijing 2022
