Charlie Beatty

Charlie began skiing at the age of two at his local hill, Horseshoe Resort.  At first, it was an opportunity for him to bond with family and friends, but as he became more confident on skis, he found himself spending a lot of time in the terrain park and truly found a passion for the sport. Charlie began competing at age five in local events and never looked back.

At the age of eight, he suffered a devastating injury and tore his right ACL, which unfortunately kept him off skis for six months, solidifying the fact that he was definitely happiest on skis. By the age of eleven, he started competing at national-level events and was crowned Junior National Champion in both slopestyle and halfpipe in 2019.

Charlie strongly believes in giving back to the community he is supported by. His family began a “Shred Cancer” ski and snowboard event at his home hill, raising over $25K for their local hospital, RVH. When he is not training or competing, Charlie volunteers to MC at ski competitions and does public speaking engagements at local schools and fundraising events to encourage the younger generation to get involved in the sport he loves.

In 2022, at age fourteen, he was one of the youngest athletes to be selected to the NextGen program on the Canadian Slopestyle and Big Air Team.  Getting to train and compete with his ski idols has been “pretty unreal”.  His most recent career highlights are winning a Big Air Gold medal for Canada at the Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, South Korea in 2024, and being selected as a flag bearer at the opening ceremonies. In addition, Charlie took first place at the 2023 NorAm event in Copper Mountain and won Gold at the Jr World Championships in New Zealand in Slopestyle in 2023.  He aspires to be selected to compete in the Winter Olympic Games to represent Canada someday.
