Freddy Mooney

Hired in 2014, Freddy Mooney is the men’s mogul team assistant coach. Previously, Mooney coached for several years in his hometown in Colorado following six years on the U.S. National Freestyle team.

Mooney worked for 12 years with Winter Park Competition Center athletes, the last five of which he was the head freestyle coach. Mooney had spent 29 years in the Winter Park Competition Center as either an athlete or a coach, competing as a member of the United States Men’s Freestyle Ski Team from 1999-2006 where he competed in multiple FIS World Cup and NorAM events.

Once he transitioned to coaching, Mooney also served as the brain’s behind the Competition Center’s Sports Science Program, which incorporates strength training, nutrition, sports psychology, and fitness testing in an effort to maximize an athlete’s total potential.  

Mooney also appeared in the Warren Miller film “Off the Grid” in 2007.

Outside of skiing, Mooney is an avid biker who served as race director for Trestle Bike Park’s Gravity Series, where he organized the entire series as well as designed and set race courses for the Enduro World Series.
